Wayanad, the northern hill district of Kerala and an integral part of  Nilgiri Bio Sphere, is covered with dense, moist deciduous forests. Elephants, tigers, leopards, jungle cats, civets, bison, peacocks, various other bird species can be seen here. Tirunelly is a small village situated at the base of the Brahmagiri Hills, which is part of Sahyadri Ranges bordering Karnataka, in Wayanad. The village is known as a pilgrim centre, thanks to the presence of an age-old Vishnu temple (Thirunelli temple) and the nearby stream Papanashini. The proximity to the dense forests makes the place more endearing to the visitors. The village is also known as an ornithologists’ and trekkers’ paradise.

You will reach at Thirunelli temple for a short visit and later for a short walk (trek) to the Kurichya tribal settlement. You will have your lunch at the village. Later you will drive back to Tholpetty Sanctuary for a jeep safari escorted by forest guards.You will be taken deep interior still through the outer zone to maximise the possibility of wildlife sighting. There are frequent Tiger sighting in this forest ranges. Elephants, Malabr Gian Squirrels, deers and a lot of birds are normal scenes.
